For my personal blog, I use Blogger. For some of my work, I use WordPress, blogger, and a have or do use a couple of other proprietary platforms. I’ve done time on Drupal before, too.

Do you blog for business? for pleasure?

Both. My personal blog is most just for fun and mental exercise. But I blog professional for a portion of my income.

How does your blog help the local blogging community?

From a personal standpoint, I nerd the place up pretty well. I also run and/or contribute to a few other local blogs, including Consuming Louisville (as their carnivorous correspondent and sci-fi/nerd columnist) and ConGlomeration.info, official blog of Louisville’s local sci-fi convention.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Wow, that’s a long list. I’m a sci-fi geek, as you may have surmised from previous answers. I read both prose and comic books with abandon. I’m a huge UofL fan, and former basketball and football season ticket-holder. I sit on the board of the Social Media Club of Louisville and occasionally advise and develop curriculum for social media marketing classes at the University of Louisville. I’m on the organizing committee for ConGlomeration, Louisville’s sci-fi convention. I’m also a professional writer/tech journalist/blogger looking to become a fiction author, so I’m a member of couple writing and reading clubs around town. And when I’m not busy doing all of that, I’m a husband and father.

What do you do when you are not writing online?

See above, with a little cooking and social media consulting thrown in.

Both. I have a blog for my “day job” and my personal blog. Both are great fun to write because they cover such different things.

How does your blog help the local blogging community?

My personal blog will occasionally cover great places to eat or shop, but the main focus is probably personal humor and growth (aren’t they the same)-parenting type stuff. A mommy blog for a very non-”mommy” type.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Reading, spending time with my family, watching soccer-both my son’s games and Professional.

Playing Chauffeur to the 15 yr old.

I like to blog about photography and photographic techniques. When I started out blogging there were only a handful of useful blogs in regards to photography on the internet. So I originally wanted to share my photographic experiences but it led in to doing reviews and how-to’s. I also use my blog to promote various seminars I may be doing.

How does your blog help the local blogging community?

I hope my blog will help others to see the wisdom and fulfillment of sharing their experiences with others. You can learn something from everybody if you just take the time to look.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Photography is my main passion, but I also enjoy the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

There is very seldom a day goes by that I don’t have my camera in hand. I shoot constantly and continuously seek to better my own craft. “I’m on photo safari, always looking for the best shot I can find.”

How does your blog help the local blogging community?

I provide information about the local farmers market and community supported agriculture (CSA) scene. I try to stay up-to-date about new organizations and events in the local organic farming scene.

I also write about seasonal food, how to prepare and store it. When we first became CSA members, I was quite overwhelmed with the (to us) unfamiliar vegetables and how to use them. Over the years, it has become second nature to develop our weekly menu based on what I know will be available seasonally. With that in mind, I include my family’s favorite recipes to help out other overwhelmed cooks.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Gardening, canning, hiking, knitting, cooking, soap and candle making… I have a lot of interests.

What do you do when you are not writing online?

I am a computer programmer by profession. Since my nearly 5yo daughter was born, I have chosen to stay home with her. I occasionally pick up part time IT contracting jobs for local businesses.

I blog for pleasure. It is a real joy to help inform residents of neighborhood events. Knowledgeable people are free people.

How does your blog help the local blogging community?

I think by sticking to local neighborhood issues, small blogs like mine not only help the people in the area, but also put a better face on our end of town.  Bloggers in SW Louisville work together on issues and discuss how best to stay united in this era of political discord and partisanship.

Hobbies include: News gathering, debate, government, public service, trade unions, activism, beaches, camping and music.
